Section 144 lifted in four areas of Sandeshkhali after police review

In response to a comprehensive area-wise review, the administration in Sandeshkhali has decided to lift Section 144 from four areas, including Daudpur, Atapur, Kulepara, and Gopaler Ghat. State Police DG Rajeev Kumar had announced on Saturday the consideration of removing Section 144 after assessing each area individually.

The imposition of Section 144 came in the wake of violence last week, leading to heightened tensions in the region. The decision to lift the restriction from specific areas aims to facilitate the return to normalcy, with the administration prioritizing areas where the enforcement of Section 144 is deemed unnecessary.
